An excavator by trade, Russell Brigante, 25, traveled to Haiti a few months ago to help with the aftermath of the devastating weather pattern the country has received in recent time. The Haitian residents are to this day still trying to piece together their lives and with the help of neighboring countries; little by little, they are making small improvements to their lifestyle. Russell heard about a trip to Haiti through a local church here in Dutchess County to help renovate several structures. Russ joined about a dozen men from the area and prepared for the trek. Russ and the others also had to take the recommended regiment of medications (antibiotics and malaria meds) before and after the trip.
